Why L.E.K.
L.E.K. first differentiated itself from other consulting opportunities with its focus on strategy projects and its immediate management opportunities for post-MBAs. After spending four years at a Fortune 100 company in mostly analyst roles, I felt that L.E.K. offered the best chance at taking my business acumen and leadership skills to the next level. My internship at L.E.K. Chicago between my first and second year at Harvard Business School confirmed that L.E.K. was the right fit for me professionally and personally. I found that L.E.K. delivered on its description of the role, and I loved working with talented, curious and driven colleagues.
My Role
As a Consultant, I am the most senior person on the team who is 100% allocated to the case. This means that I am the person who is coordinating the day-to-day research activities of the team and also the first person to have the opportunity to synthesize this information and arrive at an answer. The most enjoyable, and perhaps most challenging, part of the job is that it requires both big-picture thinking and analytical rigor with attention to detail.
Professional Development
Though I have only been at L.E.K. for a few months, I have already worked on five cases from kick-off to completion. The sophistication of the work and the speed at which it is delivered is exhilarating. My development to date has come from the exposure to a wide range of industries and through the management experiences and client interaction I’ve had so far. Things happen very quickly at L.E.K., and that includes the professional development of the firm’s employees. I get the feeling that after a couple years with L.E.K., I will have the experience and confidence to approach any complex business problem with speed, clarity and creativity.
